In honor of National School Counseling Week, we asked our School Counselor of the Year, Lisa Wilson, some questions to gain insight into the role counselors play in student achievement across MUSD.

Lathrop High School students are gaining real-world career exposure through the City Speaker Series, a collaborative program between the school and the City of Lathrop aligned with Manteca Unified School District’s Career Technical Education initiatives. Now in its third year, the program connects students with city professionals through monthly guest speakers and hands-on field trips, helping them explore career pathways, build professional skills, and connect classroom learning to future opportunities. 

At Manteca Unified, all students are students first. Meaning, regardless of whether a student is an athlete, English learner, foster youth, student with a disability, or from any particular background, they are first and foremost a student whose right to learn, belong, and succeed comes before any label or program category.

The foundation of learning begins with early literacy! Our purpose is to ensure every student meets grade-level standards, and it all starts with reading. Our early literacy initiative supports Transitional Kindergarten through third-grade students by teaching them how to read and equipping them with the tools to decode (break down) words, empowering them to read any word with confidence.
